Fifteen years ago, my life changed in a way I could never have imagined.
What started as feeling unwell slowly turned into something far more serious. I was moved from one hospital to another, undergoing test after test, with no clear answers. For three months, no one could tell me what was wrong, while my health continued to deteriorate.
During that time, I became critically ill. My body weakened day by day. I could no longer move or function normally. My strength faded, my muscles wasted away, and my body began to swell as my kidneys struggled to cope. I was frightened, exhausted, and completely disconnected from the life I once knew.
Eventually, I received a diagnosis: Castleman disease - a rare lymph node condition, autoimmune and inflammatory in nature, capable of attacking organs in different ways. In my case, it affected my kidneys, which were beginning to shut down. My body could no longer process fluids properly, and even the simplest movements felt impossible.
Once the diagnosis was finally made, treatment could begin. I underwent chemotherapy, and slowly, after completing the course, I began to feel well again. It felt like coming back to life.
But my journey didn’t end there.
Living With a Chronic Condition
Over the years, I experienced relapses roughly every three years. Castleman disease turned out to be chronic, and each relapse felt like a setback, both physically and emotionally. Yet over time, I started noticing a pattern.
Each relapse seemed to follow periods of prolonged stress.
This realisation changed everything.
I began asking different questions not just what was happening in my body, but why. I started exploring the relationship between stress, health, and the nervous system. I became curious about how our lifestyle, movement, and mindset affect the way our bodies cope with pressure.
Discovering a New Way to Heal
This curiosity led me to fitness, yoga, mindfulness, and nervous system regulation. I didn’t approach these practices as trends or quick fixes, but as tools that could help me understand my body, manage stress, and support my long-term health.
Slowly, something shifted.
I learned how to listen to my body instead of pushing through exhaustion. I learned how movement could be supportive rather than depleting. I learned how breath, awareness, and rest could regulate my nervous system in ways medication alone never could.
And then something remarkable happened.
I stopped relapsing.
Five Years of Stability - Not a Coincidence
For the past five years, I have been symptom-free. My health has remained stable. And I know this is not a coincidence.
It is the result of understanding my body, managing stress intentionally, and caring for my nervous system on a daily basis. It’s the result of choosing practices that support balance, resilience, and long-term well-being.
This journey has completely reshaped how I view health.
Why I Opened My Well-Being Studio
My passion for health and well-being doesn’t come from theory, it comes from lived experience.
I know what it feels like to be trapped in a body that won’t cooperate. I know the fear of uncertainty, the frustration of unanswered questions, and the longing for hope. I also know that small, consistent changes can make a profound difference over time.
That’s why I decided to open my own wellbeing studio.
I want to share what I’ve learned with others especially those navigating chronic illness, stress, or burnout. I want people in similar situations to know that they are not powerless, and that there are things they can do to support their health, alongside medical care.
My goal is not to promise cures, but to offer tools, understanding, and hope.
Because if my journey has taught me anything, it’s this: when we learn how to care for our nervous system, manage stress, and move with intention, we give our bodies the best possible environment to heal and thrive.
This is the heart behind Fit M Fun and I’m honored to share this journey with you.
